User interface of the graphic editor

Click on any graphic in the search history to open it in the graphic editor view.

There you have an overview of all text and graphic content and can also edit it – provided it is your own graphic. By clicking on “Clone” in the button bar at the bottom, you can create your own version of any graphic and make it editable. The title of the graphic is at the top left. Below this you will find four tabs with the editing options: “View”, “Text list”, “Metadata” and “Invitations”. At the same height, on the far right, you will find the slider for the color map, which shows you where audio fields are placed in the graphic. You can save changes at any time using the save button at the top right or bottom right.

View mode

In “View” mode, there is a graphic preview for sighted users.
Jump to the “Text list” section to find out more about the accessible editing mode. In “View”, individual elements can be clicked on and either “selected”, “edited” or “played”.

With the “Select” tool, you can see which text is linked to which graphic element. Once selected, the text with title and description appears directly below the graphic preview.

The “Edit” tool can be used to change the title and description of audio content. As soon as the “Edit text” window opens, you have the following options:

“Simple”: change text or play it by clicking on the play button.

“Simple + Pronunciation”: Adapt the pronunciation of the voice by changing the spelling (original text is retained).o “Recorded voice”: Add voice recordings.o “Other sounds”: Add audio files up to 50 MB via “Select file”. Important: Title and description can contain either text or audio – not both at the same time.

Changes are saved by clicking on the “Done” button.

With the “Play” tool, audio content is played directly when clicking on graphic elements. A distinction can be made between the playback of “Title only”, “Description only” or “Title & Description”.

Text list mode

The “Text list” gives you an overview of all audio content – i.e. title and description – that is stored in the graphic. You can also edit content here. You can search for specific texts using the “Filter by text” input field.
All texts are divided into “Title” and “Description” and sorted in an alphabetical list.
Click on “Edit” to change text content or add sounds.
Click on “Play” to listen to what is stored.

Metadata mode

Under metadata you will find all general information about the graphic: Creator, upload date, ID, language, Braille table or format. Language and Braille table can also be adjusted here at a later date.
In the “License” section, the creator specifies the license for the graphic. This relates to text, graphic and audio content. An activated copyright exception is based on the Marrakesh Treaty and only allows legally blind users to access the graphic. Further information on the author can be provided in the “Authorship” section.

Tags

Here you can add thematically appropriate terms to the graphic as tags. They are used to make the graphic easier to find in the database and to assign it to meaningful subject areas. Further information on the use of tags can be found here.

Changes

The Changes section gives you an overview of the change history of the graphic. Here you can see who edited the graphic and when. You can download and re-upload an earlier version at any time.

Invitations mode

The “Invitations” mode allows you to invite other users of the “Share” database to view or jointly edit your graphic. This is only possible for your own graphics. Enter the user’s e-mail address and then add the “View” or “Edit” role. Click on “Invite” and the user will be informed by email. The invitation is active as soon as the invited user clicks on the confirmation link.

Language variants

Scroll all the way down in the single view to see a list of all clones in other language variants. They are displayed as a list of icons with language abbreviations. If you click on “en”, for example, you will be taken to the English version of the graphic. The language of the currently open graphic is highlighted in yellow. The original graphic is highlighted in blue.

Scroll all the way down in the single view to get to the button bar. A series of buttons offer the following options:
